Meet Captain Ryan Stoa

FROM the ice rink TO the FLORIDA COASTLINES

Captain Ryan Stoa grew up in Minnesota, fishing for walleye, bass, and muskie before his first career took him around the world. As a professional hockey player, he spent 16+ seasons competing in the NHL, Russia, and Sweden, and Germany— His greatest roster spot was representing Team USA at the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea.

After years on the road, Ryan and his family made Southwest Florida home, where his lifelong love of fishing turned into Stoaway Charters. He now spends his days on the water, guiding anglers to some of the most sought-after fish in the region, from seasonal tarpon runs to year-round snook and redfish action.

Every day on the water is different, and that’s what makes it exciting. Whether you're an experienced angler or brand new to saltwater fishing, Ryan's goal is to make sure you leave with a great experience, a few new skills, and memories to last a lifetime.

A Competitor’s Edge on the Water

Ryan Stoa’s background as a professional athlete isn’t just a footnote—it’s what sets him apart as a fishing guide.
